A CITY charity is going global — with a little help from its friends.

Treat Trust Wales is developing ambitious plans to create a £10 million therapy centre in the grounds of Morriston Hospital.

Now it has unveiled a bigger and better website designed to spread its message.

Although the charity, whose president is actor Michael Sheen, already had a web presence its original was put together quickly to coincide with the publication of founder member Melanie Davies's autobiography, Never Say Die.

Now Treat has teamed up with Business Systems Services (BSS), based at Garngoch Industrial Estate in Gorseinon, to reach out to an international audience.

Melanie and husband Mike, a former surgeon, are behind Treat Trust Wales.

"We needed a website in a hurry when Never Say Die came out and Mike's son Phil set one up for us," said Melanie.

"As things developed we had to keep updating it and as Phil lives away we didn't really have the ability to do that."

The Evening Post is backing Treat's campaign to raise its first £1 million in 12 months, so Melanie contacted editor-in- chief Spencer Feeney for advice and he suggested BSS.

That led to a meeting with Rhian Daniel and Neil Page from the Gorseinon IT specialist.

"We made it clear we didn't have any money but that we wanted a website so we could go global and show everybody what we were doing," said Melanie.

"We asked if they could help and they said they would be delighted to.

"It's lovely to have local firms helping us in this way. We now have a cracking website, which is regularly updated.

"We are hoping people will have a look at it, see what we are trying to achieve, and then decide to help — either by joining Treat or by raising money."
